Tracey's Birthday Ride, Chapter 8

Well, we left El Segundo Sunday morning for a nice, relaxing birthday celebration in Laughlin. It's now Wednesday - the day we're supposed to have been riding back home - and we get to experience our first relaxing day so far. The wheel and tire will arrive Thursday, the bearings and seals Friday. Arizona Performance has us scheduled to do the repairs. Geezo Pete, we have nothing to do. Like Kenny Chesney's song, "Nowhere to go, nowhere to be."

Thursday morning I'm up early and anxious. I can't wait for 11:00 to arrive so I can get the new wheel and tire. We go to Desert Motorsports and they're there!!! We really have the parts to heal Ruby!!! I throw the parts into the trusty Hyundai and call Arizona Performance to come pick up Ruby for her surgery. We meet at Bullhead Golf Carts, load her up and get her to the shop. I'm feeling magic in the air now. I'm pretty sure I saw Rod Sterling in the back of a taxi heading for Bullhead City Airport. As Zac Brown Band sings, "Life is good today, life is good today." Then the mechanics at Arizona Performance sticks a pin in my happiness balloon...no way to fix without the new bearings and seals. Oh well, Friday for sure. The glass is still half full, or as a friend of mine said one time when asked if the glass was half-full or half-empty --- "It's both!" I take it in stride and we go back to Harrah's for another day. Perhaps I'll win a little more money.

Friday morning I'm up at the "crack of ass" as Tracey likes to say, but hey, UPS showed up before 10:00am with the wheel and tire. I'm betting it'll be that way again and I can get the bearings and seals to the shop sooner, ensuring the work gets completed so we can head back home early Saturday morning. Gotta beat the heat you know - don't want to have Tracey on the back in 100+ temperatures. Been there, done that, no fun.

We've got to switch rooms at Harrah's but I should be back before 11:00, right? Tracey won't have to move us to the new room alone. Yep, I'm getting waaaaaaaay too optimistic for my own good. I get to Desert Motorsports around 9:15 for a short wait for UPS. 10:00 and I'm watching for the brown truck. 10:15, still waiting. 10:30, not yet. 10:45, hmmm. 11:00, c'mon man. 11:15, 11:16, 11:17, 11:18, 11:19, 11:20, 11:20:30, 11:21:00, 11:21:15......you get the idea. 11:25 and the man in brown finally decides to make an entrance. It must be the fancy shorts that makes them want to be fashionably late. At least he's here. I get the parts and Hi Ho Silver, ride 'em Hyundai to the repair shop. I get assurance from them that they will get Ruby stitched up and ready to roll before they close that day. I go back to Harrah's where Tracey has already taken care of everything involved in the room switch, AND she's still smiling. Another reason I love that woman!!! Chapter 9 tomorrow - I'm about through with this story, but...not....quite.
