AS promised, here are a few pics of the 500-mile ride to Death Valley. The Three Amigos (myself, distant Thunder and iliketoys) made the ride and were blessed with perfect weather for desert riding --- a little cool in the morning but never got too hot and the winds stayed relatively calm (relative is the operative word as the wind ALWAYS blows in the desert). Anyway, enjoy and I'll be posting some pictures of the upcoming Ride For Guide Dogs on the 22nd of this month.
Now, for the ride. It was true desert riding which means a lot of long, straight open road with the Raiders just asking to run. We kept them reined in for most of the day but one particular stretch was just too inviting to say no. Think about it --- 3 guys, 100+ HP bikes, open road, smooth, no crossroads, come on...does anyone think the throttle won't twist? I won't say how fast we went but I'll leave it at "Yamaha didn't lie about the top end."
Overall, it was a great day and all 3 of us plan on cruising together throughout the summer. Hopefully, some of our friends will get off the couch, finish their "honey-do" lists and swing their legs over their sleds and ride with us. Time will tell.
