It just hit me how long of a ride we have coming up. I had a new front tire installed (11,000+ on the original) and was thinking, "Ah, ready to roll on good rubber" when the technician said, "You've only got about 1500-2000 miles left on the rear; do you wanna change it before your trip?" He's right, the back tire won't last the whole ride!
What to do, what to do? I don't wanna toss out a 240 Metz with 2000 miles left on it, can't carry a spare, don't wanna have a blow out. So I called a motorcycle shop in my hometown and scheduled a pit stop on the Friday after we arrive. Yep, that's right, in the middle of our journey I will throw the 3rd tire on Ruby's butt. Sometimes I find it hard to believe how fast we're racking up the miles on the Raider --- but other times I'm thinking we could be racking them up faster...we haven't even started this 4000-mile adventure and Tracey and I are discussing where we're going next.
